Gray background headshots; why not outside?
I get asked all the time if I have multiple pretty backgrounds, green screen or where I meet outdoors to photograph business headshots. Simple answer; I don’t!
In my research, I have found that the best looking, most adaptive business headshots have been photographed in studio with a solid background. We aesthetically love our beautiful Colorado Springs, and without doubt; it’s gorgeous. However, when I see photographs stand in for business headshots that have been taken out of the studio or green screened a pretty background, it doesn’t ever seem to fit. There’s something class and timeless about a studio lit portrait that makes the subject stand out from the background and just shine.
In my many years photographing slews of families and different portraits, I have done my fair share of business headshots out of doors. I didn’t think much of it. The setting is gorgeous and surely this won’t make much difference. However, the more I see, the more I see, if you get my drift. One of my thoughts of working out of a studio is to capture the very best gray background business headshots I could. Yes indeed, I can make that gray wall go dark black or bright white with lighting but a gray background is that one color that is the best supporting actor; never the bride, but always the bridesmaid. There to make YOU look good.
So, I photograph business headshots on a solid gray background. It’s beautiful, classic and timeless. The background will blend in with virtually anything you put it on and not be obtrusive. It’s the quiet neighbor that never makes a fuss and always mows their lawn. The gray background business headshot will serve you faithfully for years to come and never go out of style. Trends and seasons come and go, but the gray background business headshot will always be there for you and keep you looking fresh and new for years and years!
