How does website video change your user’s experience?

Hello there. I’m Chris Gosnell, digital visibility expert, and I want to talk about video on your website. How does that change the experience for the person who’s coming to your website to check you out? Because you know people might hear about you when it comes to networking. They might just run across you on a Google search. They’re going to go to your website. They’re going to check you out. How does it change the experience when they see video?

Well, here’s an idea. Words on screen, okay? They might just see a whole bunch of words on screen. They might be in a hurry. They may not have time to read it, so they might start skimming. If you’re not… don’t have things in bullet points, [inaudible 00:00:44]. Okay?

Photography. You have still photography. Maybe it’s good photography. Let’s go with the best. You had some great photography made just for you. All right. That helps because now you got some attention. You’re showing some work. You have a good headshot of yourself. People are seeing who you are. Good.

Video, they’re getting to meet you. It’s like they get to walk right up, say, “Hey, I’m interested in your services. Tell me about it.” They can go to your website, and they can watch videos and see all kinds of stuff and learn about you, what it’s like to do business with you, your products, your services, everything about you. Isn’t that pretty darned cool? Seriously, I mean they get to learn a lot more.

If you do business face to face, you meet people. How much more of that business do you close once you’ve met them face to face? A lot, right? Mm-hmm (affirmative). Think about that with video. How much more do you get questions and answers and be able to give answers and do all that when you’re actually talking to somebody? Video can do that for you. It changes the experience completely because it’s like they get to meet you, really actually meet you, hear you, hear your voice, see your face, learn who you are. It’s just an amazing thing.

They’re going to remember you. They’re going to think back and go, “Oh, yeah. That’s right. I learned that on Chris’s website because I saw this video on the blog about exactly what I was looking for.” Then they’ll watch more videos, and they’ll learn more stuff. Before you know it, they’ve talked themselves into things, not in a bad way but in a good way, and then they’ve taken their sales cycle and they’ve made it much shorter because you’ve already given them all kinds of information.

Video can make a huge difference, so get some video on your website. You can do it with your cell phone. If you need help, give me a call. I’ll be happy to help you with that.
